"I’m a mother of five, a prominent quit lit writer, and an addiction recovery advocate living just outside Kansas City, Missouri. With twelve years of sobriety under my belt, I’ve transformed my personal journey into a beacon of hope for others.
Originally from Virginia, I was raised as a proper southern girl. However, life took a challenging and unexpected turn when I found myself struggling through the grips of a disease I knew little about- alcoholism. After an 8 year marriage and three beautiful children, a highly contentious and emotional divorce would ensue. My children stayed with their father while I went to rehab. My worst nightmares were coming true. My fears-all realized. Hope-there wasn’t any. Alcohol use disorder had taken over my life-but that wasn’t the end of my story-not by a long a shot. Thank God for second chances.
I’m inspired every day by my children—Sumner, Witt, Woods, Waylon, and Macklin—and the vibrant community around me. My husband, Matthew, has been my rock throughout this journey. I swear I love him more than the day I married him 11 years ago. Together, we’ve embraced the joy of sober living, proving that recovery is possible and life after addiction can be beautiful.
Join me on this journey as I continue to advocate for those in recovery and share my story to inspire and uplift others."
